Identify the hardware
Find the component in Device Manager and check its current version and VEN/DEV ID.

Create a restore point
Always back up your system state before altering kernel-mode software.

Identify a trustworthy source for your updates. Always start with your system's built-in update tool. For specific or missing drivers, visit the support page for your exact device model. Avoid third-party driver updaters and random download mirrors.

Install & reboot
Run the installer. If instructed to uninstall the old driver first via DDU, do so in Safe Mode.
